Congratulations on Your New Home!

As you start to unpack and prepare for living in your new home it’s a good time to organize your belonging to optimize your space. A good time to start is today.

10 Tips for Organizing New Homes

1. Vacuum or wash all surfaces before placing items in cupboards or closets.

2. Wash all dishes and pans before placing in cupboards.

3. Install shelf liners to protect surfaces.

4. If you did not have time to review your items before packing now is the time. Only store items that you know you will use and that you need.

5. Store seasonal dishes and special occasion stemware in an area that is not needed for day to day items and quick access.

6. For all items you do not need share them with a relative or donate to a local nonprofit agency.

7. Store items that are used the most next to the area where they are used. Spices next to the stove, glasses next to the sink, pots and pans close to the stove.

8. Check expiration dates on spices and foods before storing.

9. Wash all bedding and towels before storing.

10. Recycle moving boxes.
