S. Christa McAuliffe Elementary School in Greeley would like to post the following message:
On April 25, 2008 our school held the first annual Family Fun Night. As a PTO, we wanted to make this event free to our families and staff as a show of appreciation for their continued dedication to the success of our school. The PTO volunteer committee asked many members of our community to help make our Family Fun Night possible and the community responded in a huge way! Donations of time, energy, money, and products were overwhelming. The end result was a night filled with wonderful activities; a time when fundraising was not the goal, but time spent with one another was the ultimate purpose. It was a huge success. One child was quoted by his mother to have said, "It was the best night of my life!" Another student remarked that the "worst" part was having to leave at the end. The generosity and support of many of our area businesses helped make our Family Fun Night an amazing event to be remembered for a long time to come. Our carnival atmosphere included decor and airbrush face painting by Merry Makers & Decorators; balloon animals by QT-Pie the Clown; and live outdoor music by the Pettit Bros. Band. Mel the Magician and Old Town Puppet Company dazzled the children and adults alike with phenomenal shows. CBP Spine of Windsor gave moms and dads a few minutes of rest with their complementary chair massages. A variety of carnival games and prizes were provided by the Greeley Wesleyan Church, while the University School Cheerleaders and Mountain States Karate performed live demonstrations. The art room sported a spin art machine while another classroom sponsored the Star Lab. A professional photographer, Michell Wilson of Creative Images by Michell, provided FREE pictures using the custom props made my Mr. Shea, the school's art teacher. Our annual book walk was once again a popular event. All those who attended the event were able to enjoy free popcorn and cotton candy, while more substantial fare was provided at a very affordable price thanks to the generosity of three local vendors: Alberto's Express, Domino's Pizza, and Tropical Sno. Student volunteers from Northridge, Maplewood, and Heath schools were instrumental in making this event run smoothly. Many local businesses provided free goodies and coupons so that every student attending would have a "gift bag" upon leaving the event. We appreciate the time and effort that all of the parents, teachers, staff, and student volunteers put in to this event. The kindness and generosity we experienced from our community was overwhelming. Thank you to the following businesses for helping to make our event possible: Noble Energy, Weld Family Clinic, Los Comales, Qdoba Mexican Grill, Newbeeswelcome.com, Knowledge Bound, Greeley Ice Haus, Helfrich and Associates/Allstate, Greeley Grays, Family Fun Plex, Mishelle Doll, D.D.S, CiCi's Pizza, Black Jack Pizza, Miller's Oil Field Services, LLC, Fort Fun, Lighthouse Lending, and Kelly Farm Pool and Racquet Association. Sincerely, Tina Magnuson, PTO CO-President April Freier and Kris Bruntz, Family Fun Night Committee Chairs
